Darrel Young

Board Member


Darrel was born and raised in Amityville, New York. He is a nine-year NFL veteran, playing for the Washington Redskins, where he served as team captain for 3 consecutive years, was the recipient of the Byron Whizzer Award for Community MVP and won the Walter Payton Man of the Year Award in 2014. He also played for the Carolina Panthers and the Chicago Bears. He is the current manager of NFL Player Engagement and Relations working with multiple departments to drive league activations during calendar events. Darrel has a proven commitment to community outreach programs as an NFL player. He has an acute knowledge of internal organizational structure, experience and relationships with key stakeholders, and ability to create strategic vision for diversity and inclusion.

Darrel holds a Bachelor of Arts degree and expects to complete his Master’s degree in Communication both from Villanova University. He volunteers for the Greater Washington, D.C. Big Brothers Big Sisters Organization. He was also an NFL USO tour participant and has extensive community involvement in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area. Young has one daughter.
